DESCRIPTION
Richard won a long game, that offered lots of volatile alliances when players switched sides from turn to turn, although always upholding a one turn "declare war"-phase. Prior the first game, we talked about the possibility to play two games after each other, believing they would be as quick as the first two games had been. However, now we know that is probably not a good idea, seeing how long a single game actually might take.
Richard started with conquering South America, and moving into New New Caledonia with 6 troops, where 3 where put in the East African bunker. He signed pacts with Mattias into North America, and Jon into Europe. The next round, being thrown out of the bunker, Richard cancelled the North American pact and signed one with Linus between the South American and the New New Caledonian border instead. Then he went upwards, outmaneuvering Mattias into Asia, while capturing his HQ and taking all of North America except for Greenland where Jon kept an increasingly large force. During round 6, after receving declarations of war from both Jon and Linus, he launched an attack towards Indonesia, reaching Southeast Asia, before being nuked - not by Andreas, but Jon, and retreating into the heavily defended HQ of Brazil to try to stop Jon from winning by taking both American HQs and changing 4 cards into a VP. However, Andreas intervened and took the HQ in Great Britain, so Jon didn't have the means to conquer both HQs while also recapturing his own HQ - especially not without trading the cards for troops, and while much of the Americas where captured, the both HQs remained occupied by Richard. Two rounds later, Richard managed to sneak attack into Great Britain for his third HQ and winning the game.
Mattias started in North America, but was unlucky having to face both Richard from the south and Jon from Iceland. Thus he was unable to conquer North America and was forced into Asia instead. There he survived during the game, although several of his opponent glanced curiously at the "Elimination-package", none of them could spare the troops to actually try the elimination.
Andreas started in Indonesia, held Australia for the entire game and kept it well defended also for the entire game. He moved into both Europe and New New Caledonia, trying to keep Jon and Linus from their bonuses, while still managing to hold onto the territories for a significant amount of time. He managed to defend Southeast Asia against Richards attack. Later, he cached in his cards for troops and managed to stop Jons plan for victory by conquering the HQ in Great Britain. His missile was spent while trying to keep the HQ, however it failed.
Jon started in Europe and succeeded in keeping it well defended and intact for several turns while building up heavy defences and later a large invasion force. Pacts where made with Richard and Linus, while cards were gained by attacking Andreas forces. When the invasion force in Greenland where large enough, the pact with Richard was broken, and although Richard spent most of his troops attacking Andreas, there were still some troops left in his fortified HQ in Brazil. Jon held for cards and seemed to have an opportunity to grab the American HQs for his 2nd win, but instead Andreas intervened by capturing his HQ, forcing Jon to cache in his cards for troops in order to recapture his starting HQ. However, now there was no need to capture the both American HQs since he had no means for victory without the cards. Instead he recaptured his HQ and dealt a hard blow to Richard gaining dominion in the Americas, but without taking any HQs there. For the final rounds he fended off attacks into Europe from the south, rebuilt the defence there since the pact with Linus was cancelled, but neglected to defend the northern borders and lost his HQ in Great Britain during the final turn.
Linus started in Madagascar, drove out Richard from the East African bunker and later from New New Caledonian as well. Pacts where made firsts with Jon, then with Richard while cancelling the pact with Jon, then a new pact with Jon was made. Linus held New New Caledonia for several turns, although he was attacked by Andreas forces. Later he cancelled the pact towards South America and threatened to move in. As Richard went for an all-out attack against Indonesia, he ceased to be the main threat in favour for Jon. Thus, the pact was on again, and instead cancelled with Jon. At the end, Linus planned to launch attacks into Europe, but the game ended before that attack could begin.
