Fabio, you've never played RISK then? :D

Sure! And always hated it from the bottom of my heart :D :D

Seriously, me and my gaming group, after 30 years of games have developed a strong preference towards "fast combat resolution" and "single roll mechanics".
As example, despite my efforts (and money) to find another starship combat game, we're stick to Silent Death (one roll of three dice to resolve to hit, damage and criticals, which takes in account gunner skills and weapon damage).

About skirmish, my preference is going toward simpler ones. I was searching for a good co-op ruleset to play a sort of "Black Hawk Down" scenario (modern or sci-fi does not matter, it's the kind of "situation" that appeals me), and so i bought the TwoHourWargames "5150" (based on the Chain Reaction system). I tried it, and the way you "spawn" enemies (fog of war emulation) put it down: rolls and rolls and rolls to determine what is that "blip" ruins the pace of the game. Even the reactions requires rolls....
Right now i've found "The Battlefield" by BombShell games that, although not really allowing "AIs" for the enemies, is fast, simple and original; one of the best ruleset i've seen (perhaps even better than Ganesha Games "Songs of..." mechanics, which already have a fast combat resolution).
I have a bunch of AT-43 minis ready to play, and I'm collecting any free (or low cost) "3D" ruleset i can find on the web (i have an insane amount of games to try, on my hard disk!) but i'm open to any suggestion :)
