I hear you, guys. For me, it's a matter of time - if I were painting I'd have no time to play. I never approached Jim's level, but I could and did do better than the LoME paintjobs back in the day. This isn't even a good photo, with half the figures out of focus, but I painted these for Curse of the Mummy's Tomb 25 years ago. and they're still serviceable:



Even badly painted WotR figures look far better than unpainted ones. When you're playing, you tend to take a longer view and see the color, not the detail. At least that's true for me (aging eyes may be a factor).
