DESCRIPTION
A very long game, where we got to open a hidden pocket. The long game was finally ended after the newly discovered importance of the mission cards. 3 missions where fulfilled the last turn, by the only remaining 3 players, which gave both Jon and Andreas 3 VPs each, and Richard got 4.
Jon started the game from North Africa, and removed Mattias completely from South America in his 2nd turn. Then he pretty much controlled most of South America and Africa for a long time, although being attacked by Richard and loosing the bonus for several rounds. A pact was kept with Linus to Europe for as long as Linus remained in Europe, and Jon threatened to move into Central America from Venezuela, but never saw the need for it until at the very end of the game to stop Andreas. Jon held two HQs for most of the game, moving them around - simply because he was able to (one time it even made a difference). but had a hard time to get any further VPs. During an early attack by Richard, Jon was nuked in Eastern Africa, loosing a resource card and almost loosing all his presence there. He stopped one attempt by Richard to win, taking back the HQ in Madagascar. He then made some effort in the latest round to win, gained a VP from a mission of controlling 6 cities, but didn't have enough troops to conquer a 3rd HQ.
Andreas started in his major city in North America, where he grew and fortified the borders to Europe and South America, while keeping a pact with Richard to Asia for the entire game. He and Richard saw it fit to cooperate against Jon and Linus. Although fighting some against Linus, Andreas ended up with the entire North America. Then he launched a nuclear attack over East Africa while stopping Richard from attempting an early triple HQ conquer. Richard used one missile to turn the attacking tides his way, then Andreas used his first missile to stop the attacker, and his second missile for the pure fun of opening the hidden pocket, being declared the Bringer of Nuclear Fire in the process. Jon was pretty much wiped out, and New New Caledonia became a continent hard to conquer, considering the new, mutant-infested fallout territory. After stopping Richard, Andreas was probably the closest to victory, controlling a well-defended Northern America and having most resources. However, he was hit by both Jon and Mattias, preventing him from conquering the 2 needed HQs. At the final round, he succeeded in finishing a mission to conquer 4+ territories over sea lines, gaining a 3rd VP.
Richard Started in Eastern Australia, taking control of Sosaria and keeping it for the entire game, using a large enough force in Southeast Asia to keep any invasions plans at bay. Next round he moved up into Asia, and made a deal with Andreas over the border to North America, and Mattias who joined the war again in Japan, keeping him out of Southeast Asia. The third and fourth round, Richard moved into both Europe, Africa and South America, denying the continent bonuses to Linus and Jon, while once also having the largest population, gaining the only 3 troop bonus from event cards that was given during the game (the two other cards were tied). Richard then attempted a triple attack, to take the HQs in Madagascar, Iceland and Argentina, since all of those territories were pretty bad defended. However, he was nuked in Eastern Africa, halting his attack forces in Europe. He expanded his territories without getting any more bonuses, and later eliminated Linus for resource cards. These were used for troops to eliminate Mattias for resource cards, expanding further and gaining an HQ. The HQ was taken back by Jon. During the last round, 1 VP was gained from 4 resource cards, and 1 VP from the mission to conquer 4+ cities succeeded, totalling 4 VPs together with HQ in Sosaria and Iceland.
Linus started out in Iceland, aiming to conquer and hold Europe. He succeeded in that, but never held it for bonus troops. When Richard had invaded South Europe, and Mattias was knocked out, Linus moved into the empty territories in Asia next to Russia rather than re-taking Southern Europe. This was probably because he didn't want Mattias too close to Europe. Richard then reinforced Europe due to the failed conquering attempt (there were not enough troops left to conquer all 3 HQs, so they stayed in Europe instead), making it hard for Linus to take it back. Then Andreas moved in from Greenland and swept him away. Linus regrouped in Africa, attempting to hinder Andreas from conquering the HQ in Madagascar. Later Richard eliminated Linus from the game.
Mattias chose between Asia and South America, he chose the latter, was knocked out by Jon in the second round, and regrouped in Japan, the only available territory. This territory was left open for this purpose while Mattias agreed on not attacking Southeast Asia for the remainder of the game. Mattias choose the Stealth power, making it possible to take the nuked empty HQ in Madagascar, and building up his forces here instead of in Asia. He was later eliminated by Richard for his resource cards, and for the HQ in Madagascar.
INGAME CHANGES
Pocket 1: Open as soon as 3 Missiles are used during the same combat roll.
[o]Evolution 7-A: Bringer of Nuclear Fire: At the start of the game, the Bringer of Nuclear Fire faction receives 2 Missile tokens as long as the mutant faction is also playing. These are in addition to any tokens received by the player.
Evolution 13-J: Fallout territory: Whenever a faction expands into, or conquers, the fallout territory, it immediately loses half its troops (round up). This does not affect the troops you are sending into battle while fighting for the territory, only the troops you eventually send into the territory when/if you conquer it.
Evolution 13-K: You cannot place troops into nor maneouver troops through the fallout territory. Remove 1 troop from the fallout territory at the end of your turn if you control it. Mutants are unaffected by the fallout territory rules, and should treat it like a bio-hazard territory. Note: The fallout territory can no longer be marked, scarred or modified in any way.
Evolution 13-L: Missile Powers: A faction with an empty brown slot gains a Missile power (player's choice) the next time it earns a red star token during a game (starting tokens do not count). Once per turn, you may discard 1 Missile to use the power. Players may still use Missiles in combat.
Mutants Faction Added, Missile Power added, Fallout in Eastern Africa where the territory card and the Bunker was destroyed and 8 Event cards added.
The Mechaniker became the "Bringer of Nuclear Fire"
Powers added:
Saharan Republic Comback power: Stealthy: You may place some or all of your recruited troops into one unmarked, unoccupied territory. This is not an expansion.
Imperial Balkania Comeback power: Convincing: You gain one extra troop in Mercenary territories.
Enclave of the Bear Missile power: EMP: Activate before a combat roll. Dice rolled for combat in that territory can't be modified for the rest of the turn.
Die Mechaniker Missile power: Recon: Activate before you would draw a coin card. You may take any one face up territory card instead.
Khan Industried Missile power: Rally: Activate at the start of your turn. Place 2 troops in every HQ you control. [/o]
