Politicing, threatening, cajoling... We do it all. Constantly. I'm always trying to do mind jobs on my opponents.
I particularly love trying to goad them into doing one thing, then someone else points out that I am manipulating them so I can get what I want. Then I explain how NOT doing what I suggested would be in my benefit, so maybe I am being helpful, and maybe I am using reverse psychology on them.
They have yet to figure out that every time I do this, I really don't care what they do. I'm just trying to get into their heads.
One of our players is such a rube that when I am trying to get in someone else's head I get into his. So I try to manipulate one person knowing it won't work on him, but it will get the other guy all worked up. It is hilarious.
One game I used a missile to help one guy while he was attacking in a battle. He told me "That was too little, too late." So I then immediately used another missile for the defender, negating my first missile.
I will bluff people down from taking territories. I'll use a missile to defend it, hold up the rest of my missiles and tell them flat out I will use every single one and they will NOT get that territory, when in all actuality, I have no plans to burn all those missiles like that.
I have never lied about how many cards I am holding, but I keep them face down and stacked tightly with just the tips poking out from under my Faction card. If you are not paying attention to how many cards I have, that is your problem. :D
