I was very sadden that when I tried introducing this to non-gamers they just didn't "get it". Anyways here are my tidbits from that experience:* When you explain the game show them the extra tiles and chits representing stuff. Tell them that -some- of them will be used in the Haunt to represent the scenario. (Naturally new players are stumped when they read the guides and it tells them to pick up "X tokens" that haven't been in the game.)
* Don't play the first game. Be a GM to help them along. When the haunt it triggered have the traitor, heroes, and yourself in completely separate rooms. You should be in "neutral" territory that either can approach you for questions. (I find that non-gamers often don't read anything as if to understand it, even something as simple as a "Community Chest" card, if you present.)
