Well, it took a while for my players to get here (we play 1x per month) but we completed our second large battle for the Curse of Strahd campaign last night using the Warriors of Krynn game. And it went very well. The players loved the breakup in the ttrpg game play to a board game that already had the backstory and npc connections. This made them feel well integrated into the story of what was happening within the board game. We used Scenario 2 'Marshall's Gambit' as an intro battle to the game mechanics (when the party began assembling their 'troops' they were attacked by a small army from Ravenloft) and Scenario 7 'Break the Walls' for the full assault on the castle. I tweaked plot points into their story, adjusted a few tiles, and printed out pictures of the lieutenant/npc's to make it more relevant to our campaign. Here is an example of what I did for the 1st battle (Scenario 2 Marshall's Gambit).1st Battle in Barovia: (keep it simple) Scenario 2-Marshal's Gambit. Simulates the party meeting with their fellow alliance groups but then are attacked by a few battalions of Strahd's army.
Modifications: start hero lieutenants as shaken.
