I've only played some games yet, but I have the feeling that many Base skills, or Unique Skills, or certain combinations of the three skills, are always "broken", even on base investigators. I think the strange thing for a new player is to find characters that are not "broken" by endgame ; But... I think is how the game works. If you have leveled a lot, means you're almost going crazy (and then, losing). AND..... You're up to a god. You must be broken to win him.

As an Arkham Horror LCG player, The only way to play CDMD is to embrace the zanyness, and even favor thematic subpar char choices (Like not picking "best skills" or prioritize free action leveling) over practicality. I always have AHLCG to spend weeks thinking in the best way to prepare for a campaing in order to be able to survive the 30 hours of it.
