Last night we played Haunt #35 - Small Changes, in which the rules say heroes need to make a might roll to use stairs, and absolutely cannot use rooms like the Collapsed Room and rooms where you would fall between floors.

What we couldn't figure out, since the haunt was written before Widow's Walk was conceived, can heroes use dumbwaiters to travel around? We took it RAW; we used them, since they were not listed as something we couldn't use, but it felt a little thematically odd. Also, we had the Treehouse in play, which has you put a plant token at a doorway on a higher floor (implying you can climb the tree like it were stairs). Thematically we treated that like stairs, using the might roll rule, but it still kinda felt weird.

Did they ever offer any clarification on that?
