If according the Rahdo's final thoughts the final board is compatible with the regular Pandemic expansions (well it isn't quite but pretty close, that's interesting I guess. So you are left with a board that is kinda an expansion. I still think it's a reach to think the game has replay value after it's over if you own Pandemic and the expansions other than having the unique board at the end. My initial gripe though was more about the game not having value to anyone else when done, not really for myself.A game that produces an ongoing story like that though is a pretty desirable thing and to make that ongoing story was certainly a tremendous effort so worrying about what to do with it after it's over is secondary so I understand that.
It seems like it is a better experience than what most board game experiences can deliver because of the evolving nature of it. That's worth the sacrifice of not having any resale value if it really does offer that.
If a game can produce a better experience but has to be disposable at the end I'd probably take the better experience over a lesser game experience.
I'm not completely convinced that a really robust story system needs perm changes to boards and cards to work. I'd rather see future "Legacy" games offer ways to play it through again taking different paths and/or have a campaign system that will be future supported over time like some of the new dungeon crawl fantasy games are attempting to do. But more Pandemic Legacy type games of equal quality I guess I'm warming up to that idea more if they can deliver a better overall game experience.
