Who in your gaming group would like this the most? This is a great game for families with young kids. It also makes a great group activity game for coworkers, new friends, or places where you need a family friendly party game.
Type of Game Play?
Game play is based on deduction and trying to identify each person’s hidden dinosaur identity. Every possible identity is laid out on the table with a list of identifying markers included on each card. Each player is then assigned one of the identities and must answer “yes” or “no” questions about themselves. Players take turns asking questions and guessing identities until 1 player has correctly deduced 3 different identities.
Number of Play-throughs?
3 plays for me so far!
Easy to Learn?
This game is easy to learn, especially if you’ve played games like Guess Who before.
The trickiest thing to explain when teaching the game -
There are 3 random characters that will get assigned special rules - one that changes their answer each time from yes to no back to yes; one that always lies; and one that always says no. It’ll be important that if someone is assigned one of these characters, that they understand how the special rules work.
Time to play?
We’ve always played with 4 players and each game lasts about 20-30 minutes.
Similarities To Other Games?
This game is similar to Guess Who, with a big difference. Once your identity has been guessed you get to reset and take on a new character. This is great, because everyone gets to stay in the game and keep guessing!
Easiest Thing to Overlook?
Don't forget that some identities have quirk tokens on them, and may be lying or changing their answers!
Quality of the Game?
Very good quality! The cards are big enough that everyone can see the traits on them when they are in the middle of the table. Each player gets a nice set of cardboard tokens that display answers to the questions they’ve already been asked. Each token has a “yes” and a “no” side. The little sugar cubes are a nice touch as victory markers. These are well thought-out pieces!
Art, Theme, Mechanic?
The art is bright and colorful with some very unique looking, detailed dinosaurs. They truly vary from cute, little guys to mean-looking, hungry guys!
If you play that each person has to speak in a character voice, you will have a blast making these dinosaurs come to life with personality!
Pro’s and Con’s
Pro’s - Great group game, fun for many ages, theme is unique and clever!
Con’s - Not an overly challenging game, but I don’t think it’s meant to be.
I think this game is more about the experience you have with the other players, and not about the challenge of winning the game.
It’s a game that will have you searching the brilliant artwork, analyzing every clue, just to say “I knew that!” when someone gets a guess correctly before you have a chance to guess it yourself. It’s fun, light, and a guaranteed good-time!
