I bought the base game at retail to try it out. After loving it and reading a lot about the various expansions I decided the Devil's Run expansion was the right one for me and bought it direct from Restoration. The comments that swayed me talked about Chop Shop increasing individual player rules/decision complexity (more to teach; potentially slower turns) versus Devil's Run increasing on-board variety/effects (affects everyone the same and is out in the open)... if that makes sense. I knew Devil's Run was a winner when people started making high-danger jumps on purpose just because it was fun to do. It can be as much about playing with toys as it is a game — in my games the Blast Offs and eliminations usually happen in slow motion and involve multiple spins 😂. How you feel about that might inform your decisions.

I don't feel like I need any more content for this game and appreciate that I can fit the one expansion in the base box. Playing with four can feel very congested so it's hard to imagine that adding a fifth player would be a good thing. Already enough chaos and occasionally too-long slam-chains for me. More is not necessarily better.

That's just my take on it, so far. To each their own.
