Thanks! That makes a lot of sense; we misread the Traitor's Tome.

Our game was interesting (and the traitor wound up winning regardless of our rule confusion): we had the research lab next to the collapsed room landing, and one of us was next to the collapsed room, held the book, and had the highest intelligence of any of the heroes, so we managed to make the plant spray on turn two. However, the traitor had the dog and the spear, making a combat defeat difficult. Once the plant spray was dropped the traitor used the dog to carry it away from us, and put rooms requiring crossing rolls between him and us (the dog can't carry the spray across these rooms, but the traitor can freely, and we could potentially be stuck behind).

Actually, that raises a second (interesting) rule question we had, though we wound up agreeing on this one: the dog doesn't seem to be required to drop an item, meaning they can be carrying an item at the end of their owner's turn. If that *is* the case, it would mean that the dog could "hold" the spray for the traitor and make it impossible for anyone to steal it back (since the dog doesn't participate in combat and can't take damage). Of course, that itself would lead to an unwinnable situation, so we assumed there was something wrong with that (such as the dog not being able to have an item at the end of its turn). Any clarification on that?

Regardless though, it was certainly a very fun session. We've been having a great time with this game so far--the stories are spectacularly fun, and no one seems to care about "winning."
