I've always been interested in this game but stayed away due to the potential cost and storage of the game. I came across 2 sets of ROTV and 1 marro base set, plus one character expansion on Craigslist for a decent price, so I made the leap.I originally worried I wouldn't like the crossing of different genres, but now see that is part of its charm. My intention was to get this set up and played with my 8 year old daughter. So following advice on here I went to heroscapers.com and found a map using two of my sets and started building. With my daughters help I had a beautiful map built in about 45 minutes. This was all done before I had even sat down to read the rules. Long story short I grabbed two 300 point prebuilt armies and let my daughter pick which army she wanted, we had a blast!
I'm so glad I picked this game up, my daughter can't wait to play again and I think some of my regular gaming friends will enjoy it too. The only negative is the desire to buy more terrain and characters has already hit and I know I'll be dropping more money on this in the long run. Over all a great game and a hit with my daughter.
