If visuals are the game's prime appeal and the gameplay is "nothing amazing," I'm not sure the game really needs to be brought back.
The gameplay without the components is nothing special. The components without the gameplay are nothing special.
The gameplay + the components = lightning in a bottle.
I think this last comment is spot on.
I've painted hundreds of minis, but would love to see this new iteration of 'Scape come as prepainted, even if it costs a bit more. It's a great game--so accessible, easy to understand but strategic, AND also has amazing table presence. Even if it's not painted, I'll still probably buy and just paint them myself.
I'm curious about others' thoughts. I'm wondering if the majority of people are like me--I'm not someone who prefers hyperdetailed miniatures. Part of the appeal (to me) of Classic was that the miniatures were "tabletop quality." They weren't too detailed, but still looked good. They still sort of felt like toys rather than competition miniature sculpts. Other than a very few units, you didn't worry about tossing them in a Plano container.
While I pine for the days of $15 for a booster pack of 7 less-detailed, prepainted HS minis, I'm sure many of us would be willing to pay a decent amount more for something similar today.
Either way, excited to see what Renegade comes up with.
