We have a player who prefers playing cooperatively, but she's been okay with some competitive legacy games, such as My City and Charterstone. She appreciated Betrayal Legacy since she was never the traitor. She actually enjoyed Clank Legacy because while we were racing for points, we had "gentlemen's agreements" where we didn't screw over the other players too terribly. We're going to be looking for a new Legacy game soon, and I have a cheap copy of Seafall on the shelf. Now I played in a game a few years back, though I never finished it. Opened all but one box. I think this player would enjoy the exploration aspect of this game, but we would have to tone down the conflict. I'm trying to think of ways to keep the fun of the game while sacrificing the conflict. My memory may be fuzzy on how the game works exactly, so please forgive me if I get something wrong. I'll use spoilers for most everything, but I don't know when the boxes open, so they won't be well organized spoilers. At this point, if you're here, you probably already have played the game, so you know what to look for.
[o]Milestone that you win a fight (at least one IIRC): Not sure what to do here. Maybe just accept that this is the one time we have to fight. She probably wouldn't choose to engage with anyone, which would put her at a disadvantage. Thinking maybe the first person to get enmity in two or three islands?[/o]
[o]Map fragments: Maybe turn in map fragments if you end the game with one? Probably not both. If you luck into both, then congrats; go get your prize in the next game. [/o]
[o]Map coordinates: I forgot what these were on; tablets I think. I recall that you could only get new ones by beating up on your players. I know there had been discussion of trading knowledge. So maybe trade a tablet for another. I saw a variant where you can agree to buy one for 10 Gold. Sounds fair. Perhaps make the trade compulsory. If someone wants your tablet, and they have a tablet you've never seen before, then you must make that trade. If someone with 10 Gold (or maybe 20) wants your tablet, you must make that trade. I dunno; I'm hazy on here because this was point where my game fell apart, so I don't know how easy it is to get these tablets.[/o]
That's all I can think of. I thought I had seen a few years back rules on turning the game cooperative, but I couldn't find it if it does exist. May be making up rulings on the fly.
