Fast forward to Feb2013.

I wanted to say the foamy landscape did not work that well in the end. Static electricity between the counters and the board made for some jumpy counters. But I have long since got rid of that idea. By mistake I found a better way.

I would make a nice normal hex map with color to print on normal cardstock paper. Then I would make 3 more to have a larger area. I printed it. I rolled clear drawer liner on it. I cut out the edges so they are serrated to align with the hexes edges.

Then I hooked those separate pages together. I just used a tiny bit of clear tape. From there, I took out a dry erase marker and just drew my heights and other landscapy thinga-ma-bobs.

It worked nice. It allowed me to have a 22 by 16 inch layout. After the game I had to be careful on removing the tape. It needs to be rolled away instead of just pulled.

So to recap my ramble: used cardstock, clear paper liner, and a bitmap..map. to make board. I used clear tape to connect many pieces of it for the game.

Oh...and I used pictures from past conventions to get and idea on what layout to make.
