My friends and I played one board to about 17 games, and it was awesome--we still didn't open the capitol packet. What we did, though, was anticipate future games. We never looked at scars, events, or missions if we could help it. It made the game much more exciting, because we were surprised throughout the later games, not just upon opening the packets; we even had one event that made it through about four games without being seen, and it was huge! Huge.
We did the same with CmBck-Ps and the MPs for the factions, and we're still surprised. We started a second board and it's nothing like the first; all factions are viable, and we're STILL being surprised.
If you can get a group that finds the novelty still worthwhile after playing one board, you've got a good group of people to keep enjoying Risk Legacy. We kicked around the forums and have plans to use some of the expansion ideas as well.
