What a sharp pointy sword you have

Just one project this week, Unmatched: Little Red Riding Hood vs. Beowulf

I'm still playing with the idea of James Gurney triads. Above you'll see the color plans for each. He got a sunnier yellow and she, a muddier "red". Naples yellow is a cheat because it already has white in it. But it's nicely opaque. I've never used Violet Oxide before, and I think it was great for this. Her blue is stronger because I wanted to make sure and get a clear green.

I declared them done earlier in the week, but ended up working on them one more day. I cleaned up mold lines a bit and added more blackline. It helped a lot with Red's head. She's got a lot going on. A red hood, a wolf's head, and a full head of hair. That leaves room for just a tiny little face. You can't tell what's what without paint.

I changed my photography lights out this week. Last week I was testing the Aputure M lights. This week I tried out two Weeylite RB9s, and I'm choosing them to keep. They are a lot brighter than the Aputure lights.

I did a lot of 2d drawing and painting this week, but nothing worth sharing. Just a lot of little studies.

Next week I plan to work on some Altar Quest heroes and villians. I'm either going to speed paint these like I did the others, or pull out all of the heroes and villians and bring them to a higher level. Haven't decided yet.

See you next week!

Dee
