Our group had 8 Players. We rotated people around and some were more competitive than others. In the end we had 3 players with 3 wins battling for the 15th game, with 2 other players fighting for a tie for first. We agreed winner of game 15 got to name the world.
We thought about wins per faction, but that seemed to go directly against the intent of the game. Certain factions get stronger naturally, and players need to choose the factions they want based on their starting items. If someone starts to strong then the other players will be forced to kill them. The game balances itself so I would REALLY recommend not granting individual factions the missiles. The narrative of the game will balance that faction with 6 wins too. No spoilers, but there are 6 packets so you know balancing will occur somehow. It is brilliant!
If anything I'd keep track of Player 1,2,3,4,5 and award them prizes (if Joe isn't here, Julie can be player 5). In later games (packs) there is a way to iron out any issues this system might have if let;s say Julie and Joe are present. (PM me if you open up the HOLY HELL RULES pack and have questions).
We played the board as a group and made group decisions for the board. In the end we have a lovely map that everyone is proud of. The board is now slapped up on my wall as a reminder of the folly of man; Purgatoria, please forgive us.
