Just finished the most fun game yet of Betrayal, in scenario #3The haunt begins quite late in our game, so the heroes are feeling rather confident with plenty of items and most of the house mapped out.
The witch is feeling rather desperate, so she sends her traitor character off into the mystic elevator to thwart the heroes. But once it reaches the main floor, one of the heroes runs straight into the elevator and opens up the music box. To add insult to injury, the hero then tries to also steal an item from the traitor character with a might roll. With an unlucky roll of 1 vs. 6 the hero's snatch attmept is smacked down hard... so hard she's knocked to the ground and dies, in the Mystic Elevator. Now all her items fall down with her, including the now-opened music box.
Meanwhile, the now ultra-knowledgeable professor is quickly given the book and root so he dashes off to confront the witch and succeeds in casting the spell of mortality!
The round continues and when the traitor begins her turn, she fails her attempt to avoid the trance of the music, so SHE's STUCK IN THE ELEVATOR!
However the Witch nearby gets her revenge by turning the Professor into a frog and he looses all his items.
When the traitor begins her next turn, she finally succeeds her roll and escapes the elevator music, closing the box and taking the rest of the items and then going into the other room to retrieve all of the Professors dropped items. She's now ultra-powerful.
Flash, recently given the revolver and full of speed-enhanced accuracy, comes down the hall, picks up the hopping-away frog and then shoots into the next room to put the Witch to her misery but misses and the Frog-Professor exclaims "How could you miss!?!?"
Another round and Flash shoots again... and misses again! The frog-professor in his pocket goes crazy as Flash runs away in failure. "WHAT?? YOU MISSED AGAIN!!! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU??? SHE'S 20 FEET AWAY!!!"
Eventually they are able to regroup and run down the Witch to end her reign but it was looking quite grim for a while!
