Thread: Thunder Road: Vendetta – Maximum Chrome:: Rules:: Smoke screen and stealth technology

Ok, pretty sure I know the answer. Here's something that came up recently. One player had two cars positioned side by side. One had smoke screen. The other had stealth technology. Smoke screen says "vehicles may not shoot this car from the space directly behind it". Stealth technology says "vehicles may not shoot this car if there is another vehicle they could shoot". I came up right behind the car with smoke screen. Both were in my forward arc. Since smoke screen made it so I can't shoot the car directly in front of me I intended to shoot the car with stealth technology. There were no other vehicles besides those two even close. The way I read it, since I can't shoot the car with smoke screen I could shoot the car with stealth technology. The other player said I can't shoot either one. So who was right? And is there a FAQ or official source I can point the other player to.

I don’t think there is any character or map that is a must get. Like others have said, get what interests you. I would say the boxes that have double sided maps are good value. I would also say get at least two 2 player maps.

As to my personal preference, here’s a simple framework:
Stick to the public domain boxes. I.e. avoid the IP’s (marvel, witcher, jurassic world, ninja turtles etc.).

I find this creates a nice theme to the game and also the public domain boxes normally have more value for cost. And then just pick the themes that will stick out to you and your friends.

For me here are my boxes and highlights:
BoL vol. 1 (Sinbad, Alice)
Robin Hood vs Big Foot (Robin Hood)
Little Red vs Beowulf (Both) (only one map)
Cobble and Fog (Invisible Man)
BoL vol. 2 (Achilles, Sun Wukong) (only one map)

I want houdini and the genie. The genie sticks out to me thematically and houdini mechanically.

BoL vol. 3 doesn’t stand out to me. But I might come around after seeing the characters in action.

I don’t even know the characters from Sun Origin so won’t get that.

I’m skipping Tales to amaze. I’m hoping the next co-op box has more appealing characters and that they improve on the system.

I would also rule that you could not shoot either one given your specific positioning.

Hi Michael, that information is printed on Tsath's Stage 1 Elder God card. As I recall, a fatigue token is placed on top the leftmost spot of either the health or stress tracks on an investigator's board, "blocking" it or reducing its maximum available amount.

When an investigator takes a rest action, they can use those "points" to instead of recover stress/health, remove a token instead. So while they could normally recover stress/health in any combination of 3, they could instead, remove a fatigue token and recover 1 stress/health each instead. Or if someone had three fatigue tokens, they could take two rest actions, one to remove all three, and one to recover the missing stress/health that those had blocked off.

Can you elaborate this seems toebto be contradictory to the wording on the cards

I would prioritize acquisition based on what's going out of print/being "vaulted" soonest. ("Vaulted" sets are public domain characters and are more likely to be reprinted by RG in the future.) On that basis, I would order my acquisitions like this (presuming no Jurassic Park sets are available; if those are miraculously still there, prioritize those first):

(1) Cobble & Fog (already vaulted, but just recently started disappearing from retailers)
(2) Hell's Kitchen (OOP) (Best of the Marvel sets, IMO)
(3) Redemption Row (OOP)
(4) Brains and Brawn (OOP)
(5) For King and Country (OOP)
(6) Teen Spirit (OOP) (Weakest of the Marvel sets by a wide margin, IMO)
(7) Houdini vs. The Genie (recently vaulted)
(8) Little Red Riding Hood vs. Beowulf (next set to be vaulted)
(10) Sun's Origin (based on release date, would be expected to be vaulted next after Little Red/Beowulf, and possibly before the two Witcher Sets go OOP)
(11) Realm's Fall
(12) Silver & Steel
(13) Slings & Arrows
(14) Battle of Legends, Vol. 1
(15) Battle of Legends, Vol. 2
(16) Battle of Legends, Vol. 3

If you like co-op play, then I'd recommend fitting in Unmatched Adventures: Tales to Amaze in between Sun's Origin and Realm's Fall. As it was the first co-op set produced for the series, it's not clear what RG's approach is going to be to keeping it in print. Also, while the Battle of Legends sets are perfectly good, it's also pretty clear that (1) RG is committed to keeping them in print on a regular basis and (2) the first two volumes at least are the most widely available sets on the secondary market, so you should be able to pick up copies of those at reasonable prices at your convenience.

Looking for tips or any templates for making better cards. I experimented with the 6 promo cards and did them. I found a post from 5 years ago where someone had a med kit idea.

Is there any other resources for making cards? I have the card backs, now I want to start on some other souvenir's and injury cards.

I would say that you can shoot the stealth car.

Smoke - Cant shoot me. Stealth, can't shoot me unless I am the only valid target. Stealth car is the only valid target.

P7 of base game rulebook:
“Hazard space: Red double triangle symbols show where to place hazard tokens only when a new road tile is added. If there is no hazard token when entering this space, treat the space as if there was no symbol.

Just want to say you are wise to set boundaries on purchasing this series. I wish I'd kept to my boundaries. Hope you have more willpower.

No suggestions. Like some others have said, pick a set whose characters interest you.

The adversary quest requires that you meet the prerequisites (honesty needed) such as 4 of Azols treasure, then you go to the location and choose the correct quest and then click and hold the complete button (bare in mind all this is from memory) and the Adversory will usually spawn miles away.
